HIV / TB Experience

  • Started HIV/TB and co morbidity training for RTC at Helen Joseph Hospital, 10 years ago
  • Was most Senior Clinician at Themba Lethu Clinic (ARV site, situated at Helen Joseph Hospital ,with TB focal point , 26 000 patients on the rollout program)
  • Was a Member of care team of medical officers responsible for organizing ward rounds, journal clubs, lectures and training new medical officers.
  • Mentored of medical students, interns and registrars above HIV/AIDS
  • Mentored of psychologist, radiologist, social workers, councilors, dieticians and nurses about HIV and ARVS.
  • Training of primary health care nurses to deal with preheart , haart and down referral patients –involved in practical training exams ,certification and placement of nurses.
  • Managed the adolescent clinic- involved in close interaction between Helen Joseph and Rahima Moosa Hospital.
  • Screened patients for research (Cancer of cervix,TB iris ,Discordant couples ,resistance studies)
  • Lectured for right to care at their doctors Management course.
  • Lead ward rounds in Helen Joseph Hospital for clinicians from various sites.
  • Attend HIV clinician’s society meetings.
  • Involved in training programs for doctors to get their HIV diploma.
  • Attended to problematic patients, help colleagues with their difficult patients
  • Involved with HIV Clinician Society and DOH in drawing up guidelines
